Canterbury Partners is pleased to have advised the board and shareholders of BlueCross Group (‘BlueCross’) on the divestment of the business to Opal HealthCare.
Founded in 1993, BlueCross is a leading provider of aged care services in Victoria. It operates 31 aged care residences (predominantly located in Metropolitan Melbourne), providing homes for more than 2,600 residents. BlueCross also provides care services for over 1,000 clients living in their own homes and is supported by over 4,000 dedicated staff and a significant volunteer network.
Opal HealthCare is Australia’s largest provider of residential aged care services, providing care to more than 12,000 residents post transaction. Opal HealthCare has a significant presence Australia wide, with over 130 care communities across Victoria, New South Wales, Western Australia, South Australia and Queensland.
BlueCross and Opal HealthCare are strongly aligned in terms of culture and values, and share a vision of continuing to deliver high quality clinical care to residents of the enlarged group. The transaction represents an opportunity for the two organisations to continue to enhance their strong reputations and become the national aged care provider of choice for elderly Australians.
