New Australian wagering venture

Canterbury Partners is pleased to have advised News Corp Australia (‘NCA’) on entering into a new wagering venture with a consortium including Tripp Group led by Matt Tripp and Las Vegas digital-sports gambling firm Tekkorp Holdings LLC led by Matt Davey.

NCA entered the wagering venture with Tripp and Tekkorp after an extensive market review and diligence process.

Both Tripp and Davey have decades of success in the wagering sector, with Tripp having built the Sportsbet and BetEasy brands into market leaders in Australia and Australian born Davey having led global gaming technology company NYX Gaming Group through massive growth and eventual acquisition by Scientific Games Group, which he led as CEO of SG Digital.

NCA has been the leader in sports and wagering information and news for decades, initially through its coverage of racing and publication of form guides with major partners, to more recently acquiring digital publishing and affiliate marketing engines Punters.com.au and racenet.com.au.

The wagering venture will be a unique business, created in Australia for Australians and with a combination of experience, will provide the market a new and exciting wagering brand for sports, fans and sponsors and is expected to launch in the second half of 2022.
